Westermo products and network solutions showcased at Automation India

Beijer Electronics India exhibited Westermo's product portfolio at this year's Automation India which took place in Mumbai, September 23rd - 26th. The exhibition is the largest of its kind in India with over 700 exhibitors and 33,000 visitors over the 4 day event.

Westermo Network Solutions presented to the Libyan oil & gas sector

Tektraco Libya, Westermo's official distributor for Libya, held a number of "Solutions days" for the Oil & Gas sector. The seminars were held at the end of September and attracted a great deal of interest from the Libya Oil and Gas sector including representatives from Waha Oil Company, Arabian Gulf Oil Company, Zueitina Oil Company and Sirte Oil Company. The main focus of the events was to highlight the benefits of Westermo's rugged industrial data communications solutions with demonstrations of underlying products such as the Wolverine (Ethernet Extender), the Lynx (Layer 2/3 Ethernet Switch), the RFI (Layer 3 Ethernet Switch) and the MRD series (Wireless 3G Router). Miikael Bugeja, Head of Telecoms at Tektraco, commented: ”We invited our most important Oil & Gas customers to spend a day with us and presented them with the necessary technical information which will enable them to reap the maximum benefits from Westermo's solutions".

Westermo Creates Train Networks Division

Westermo has moved to create a dedicated train networks division within the Westermo Group to provide the highest levels of support to the train industry. A core team in Västerås in Sweden will lead the global sales and support activities with specialists at customer centers in key locations around the world.

Westermo is a robust network technology manufacturer dedicated to long term partnerships with many of the world’s leading train manufacturers. Westermo has invested heavily in developing products, processes and resources to meet the tough requirements in this sector. Huge steps have been taken in important areas such as product design and functionality, manufacturing processes and quality control.  Forming this new oganisation is the next step in Westermo’s ambitious plan to become the world leading supplier of network solutions for trains.

The train network organisation will be headed by Erik Danielsson, previously Group Vice President, Industry Segment Business, at ABB Control Technologies. Erik has deep and broad industrial high tech experience. After graduating as Master of Science, his career has included time working internationally as well as in R&D roles and as a Director of Product Line Management.

“Erik’s experience will be a valuable addition to our Train Networks team as we strive to further increase our momentum in the market place and build our capability as a world leading player in the train market,” said Lars-Ola Lundkvist, Westermo CEO.

The new organisation will be Westermo’s base for further increased investments in train network technology and capability development. It is Westermo’s ambition to be an even stronger value providing technology partner for companies in the train industry.

In September alone quality representatives from businesses in mining, rail, electricity and oil & gas made visits to our factory and gave top ratings to our processes and systems.

During September, Westermo had the honor of receiving a group of engineers and technicians from Toshiba, Kawasaki and Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority on a quality inspection before delivery commences to the Dulles Metrorail project in Washington DC, USA. Alstom Grid, who operate in substation automation, and FMC Technologies, one of the world's largest producers of oil & gas equipment, inspected the plant prior to upcoming deliveries. The final audit of the month was carried out by Atlas Copco, manufacturers of mining equipment.

Westermo is proud to demonstrate its production facility and processes for these large companies. Each visit brings additional knowledge for Westermo that enables even higher quality in the future.
